Pros

Great WFH flexibility. Program missions are well intentioned, making it easy to bond with colleagues over a similar cause. Camaraderie is strong (when it is found), and allows employees a good sandbox to learn the industry and grow their expertise in energy efficiency together.

Cons

Consulting lends itself to stretching employees thin to keep margins high, and leadership is slow to react to help resolve this inherent conflict. A recent spike in new business has left teams disproportionately resourced and scrambling to make new hires. A pathway to career progression is muddy, leaving it up to the employee to trial and error professional growth strategies with little insight as to what meets expectations and what doesn’t. I would recommend RI to anyone, but would encourage them to be diligent about respecting their own work-life-balance boundaries. It will be tempting to go with the flow for the sake of making things work. There is a difference between being a team player and taking on too much. Most folks are burnt out, oblivious to the gravity of the situation, or too focused on staying afloat to pause and collaborate on a wider solution. RI was a fantastic place to work at one point, and has the potential to get back to that.

Pros

Good PTO and health benefits (great actually). Fully remote (but this is also a CON for this company).

Cons

Resource Innovations has strong intentions as a company, but there are several challenges worth noting. First, the fully remote structure creates significant communication gaps. Important information often travels slowly or inconsistently, which can make cross-functional alignment difficult. Teams/individuals often operate in silos, and the lack of clear, timely communication can turn routine tasks into unnecessary fire drills. Additionally, the company’s steady stream of acquisitions compounds these issues. Each new acquisition adds another layer of systems, processes, and complexities (with little time for proper integration). This results in a constantly shifting operational landscape where teams are juggling multiple platforms, incomplete data, and unclear ownership. The pace and volume of changes create long hours, repeated manual work, and avoidable rework. Finally, workload distribution can feel uneven. While some team members manage a reasonable workload, others are stretched thin and nearing burnout. The pressure to keep up with acquisition-driven demands, coupled with communication challenges, leaves certain employees overworked and operating at their limit. Overall, Resource Innovations has potential, but the communication gaps, acquisition overload, and inconsistent workload balance make it a difficult environment. I would avoid this company if you can.

Pros

Recently increased their 401k matching

Cons

Ironically, they fear innovating because of their focus on bottomline and keeping their clients by doing the same old, rather than exploring what is best for the client. It's just another company. Don't believe the hype of this company. It's severely under-resourced, with high turnover.
