Pros

- Interesting technical challenges - Ability to carve your own path and dictate a decent amount of the type of work you get to do - Managers who care, and don’t micro-manage but are still supportive - Company is on a great growth trajectory and beating sales targets - Customers really love the product

Cons

- Uncompetitive remote policy. Confusingly, engineering is one of the only departments not remote friendly (much of other departments and their leaders are remote) - Product management org is very small

Pros

There's a lot to like here, especially for folks that are either 1) farther along in their career and/or 2) are comfortable operating rather autonomously or without a lot of guidance. Personally, this is exactly what I want, but I know might be tougher for people who either want or need more guidance. I appreciate the ability to work on interesting things with other really smart people and make meaningful impact on the product. It's taken a minute for us to get into this execution and ship state, but I'm happy we've made progress here. I also appreciate the ability to be in an office with teammates but also have the two flex days each week to work from home. Coming from a larger company, I have been pretty happy with the benefits and perks. I was not expecting a matching 401k, for example.

Cons

Kind of like I mentioned above, Retool may not be the right choice for everyone. Some folks wish they had more of their manager's time, or more technical leadership to look to, and I get that. But I also think it's a little bit what you make of it. I also wish there was a little bit more connective tissue at the company—we have great teams across the business, but they're a little silo'd and it's tough to always know who's working on what. I don't love some of our catering, but that's a me problem, not a Retool problem.
