Pros

- learn new technologies - gain experience implementing these technologies in real world applications - meet and collaborate with batch members - learning something new everyday - you HAVE to put in the work to get anything out of training Remember that Revature is investing in you and your abilities.

Cons

- it's not for those who don't have time to work outside of work hours - training is intense but necessary for the timeline of when training finishes - be ready to work more than 40 hours a week (you will have to work on projects and study material)

Pros

After graduating from College, right as I started to get good at this whole job application thing, COVID hit, and there was no way to get a job at all. Revature not only was willing and excited to hire me, but they answered every question I had, and assured me that I had the first 10 days to be certain I want to be part of Revature. Before training, my coordinator answered every single email and call and explained as much as possible, answered every question, and gave me as much information as she possibly could, including about pay, relocation, and what to expect. Revature really works to be transparent with you about everything! Through training, the trainers work together and your primary trainer works tirelessly to help you understand the new information and keep up transparency. The bonds with your batch-mates can be life long and everyone works together to lift each other up. A lot of people online think this is a scam, but no one who made it through training agrees with that description. You are given a contract and encouraged to look it over with a lawyer before signing. There is no hidden hokey-pokey, especially because they are based in Virginia, and they're not going to risk one contestable clause throwing out the entire contract. They take 2 years worth of college courses and cram it into 10-12 weeks, but they do it in a way that it is manageable. Humor is encouraged and flexibility is a must, but I am so incredibly grateful for Revature. They are helping me jump-start my career and gave me skills that I never thought I would have sought out. A lot of people put relocation as a con, but I am really excited to start my professional career with an adventure! You do have to be willing to go anywhere, but they also tell you in the beginning where you are likely to go. They really don't try to surprise you! They do tell you that you don't need a Computer Science background to be successful here, and that is mostly true. However, you DO need a logical mind and be able to learn quickly. Additionally, you will grow personally, inter-personally, professionally, and technically. You will learn so much about yourself, how to work with people who you don't get along with, how to better conduct yourself, SO MANY SOFT SKILLS, and, of course, programming skills!

Cons

I'm not going to lie. Training is a lot. You're starting out working a lot of unpaid overtime, but you get out of this training what you put into it. For training, the work life balance is rough, especially if you're remote and still have home responsibilities, but as soon as you get promoted, your work-life balance springs back really quickly! (You almost get whiplash). It's a balancing act. You will not have much of a social life during training, and depending on your coordinator, they will be straight with you about it. One thing that should be clarified, is they tell you you have 10 days of training before you have to sign the contract or else leave, but they don't tell you if it's 10 business days or calendar days. You have 10 calendar days, and they give you the contract to look at on day 5. Those first 10 days are not really up to pace for most of the training, so some of it comes as a surprise.

Pros

Every one is very helpful and wants you to succeed. I have met some awesome people through this process and I hope to keep the friendships through life.

Cons

I would say that it is cut-throat. While they make you aware that it is fast paced, there is just no way to be ready. I did not come from a CS background, so it was more difficult. But, hey, I made it. So can you.
