Pros

Team members are intelligent, dedicated and truly a pleasure to work with. If they were allowed to do what they do best, I have no doubt this company would be successful.

Cons

CEO is a buffoon, pure and simple. He has mismanaged Rhythm and every single other company he has launched. Most have folded because of it or have been 'absorbed' by Rhythm. Don't believe anything you read about the CEO firing himself. That just means he's rarely onsite. But make no mistake, he's scheming ways of manipulating finances so he can claim that he's a successful entrepreneur or fixating on 'innovative' products & services the industry flat-out doesn't need or want. Upper management is constantly revolving, wisely leaving on their own accord or being let go abruptly when they try to do things the right way. The latter I feel happens when a manager is actually doing well and is respected by his or her peers. The CEO can't stand it. His ego demands that he's must appear the smartest person in the room and he decrees in company meetings that he alone is responsible for all positive momentum. I encourage anyone researching the company to check out videos and interviews of the CEO. Note the number of times he says "I" over "we" or "the team." He takes credit for the work of others, from accounting and Sales to operations and R&D. It's shameful. This is incredibly telling of his true character, and it certainly explains his disregard for employees, their lives, their families and their futures. Unfortunately it's a negative, self-reinforcing cycle, and has been for some time. CEO believes management success is earned by reading management books (I've met several business leaders and influential folks in Kansas City who openly joke about his penchant for claiming some epiphany based on something he read in a management book). But unfortunately he misses so many of the underlying lessons. It's less about technology or technique, it's more about people. And certainly he is ignorant of the fact that leadership is not just learned, but more so earned. It's not something you wake up and decide you're good at. Those you lead decide if you're a good leader, and the CEO has proven himself self-serving and ineffectual at nearly every turn.

Pros

Many good people doing their best in a tough environment. Widely deployed product that is truly unique from a technology perspective. Bottom line-the product works and works well.

Cons

A CEO that has proclaimed to the business world that he "fired himself" yet is involved in all major issues and the smallest of approvals; very much a contradiction in terms of behavior. A COO that has overextended the resources of this company and is mismanaging customer relationships due to a limited perspective and skill set. And lastly, multiple HR issues from both current and former employees. A real mess.

Pros

Wow! Where do I start?! The people are amazing! The R&D boss is like Austin Powers...bald head and calls himself "Puffy." Love it! CEO says that he is under-qualified and needs to fire himself...very open and transparent, fast-scaling company. Generous as well. Rhythm even gave me bonuses even during a down year. This is truly an entrepreneurial company. Very sexy.

Cons

Trouble is people leave large companies in the region to join Rhythm and large companies and fast-growth companies have nothing in common. Rhythm needs to just not hire bodies with a great resume...wait for the right entrepreneurial spirit.
