Pros

individual contributors, the people on the front lines and the office/breakfast perks, etc.

Cons

The leadership. They foster a culture of competition amongst the teams and don't have any empathy for the employees. They don't value how long it takes to get to know the business and they will fire people on a whim. The move people around and reorganize constantly, without getting the buy-in from the managers of the team. The product is really non-existent. When I asked the head of product for a roadmap, he said we didn't have one. It's a staffing company that runs on spreadsheets and people, not technology. It really doesn't feel like there are that many adults in the room and it's disheartening because they are sitting on a really great idea with lots of good, smart people. They have very few loyal employees because they are not loyal to their employees and don't care to listen to what they have to say. In the two years I was there, there were more than 4 initiatives around goals so they could covertly layoff or fire the bottom 20%. None of them ever stuck and we pivoted to something else

Pros

A ton of passionate, talented people that want to execute and make a difference. No shortage of big thinking and talented folks. Good benefits/pay, though unclear if that will remain given the layoffs. Nice location downtown, nice offices (irrelevant currently), good brand name on your resume in Austin. I think they are solving an important industry problem and I think the work itself is super interesting, so I'm still optimistic the company can be successful if they make some culture changes.

Cons

In the last few months, it's been utter chaos. Leadership is trying to implement goals but doing it in a way that is unsustainable (30 day goals, expectation of 110% performance in a crisis is tone deaf). The tech product is not as advanced as you might think. C-Suite leadership recently is giving conflicting messages to employees, people feel a lot of uncertainty after being told no layoffs and 2 weeks later seeing layoffs. I would still recommend it as a good place to work to friends but would not sugarcoat the hard truths - be prepared for a lack of clarity (more than any other startup I've worked at), conflicting messages from leadership and a big focus on execution without a clear roadmap. Heavy investor influence seems to be the case in some of these decisions which may just be par for the course.

Pros

Snacks, free breakfast, unlimited PTO, flexibility to work from home.

Cons

This company use to be a great company to work for. They really valued their employees and were very transparent with everyone on where the company was heading. Since early 2019, it has been all downhill from there. They hired 200 + people in less than 6 months and it is absolute chaos. Upper management is clueless on what is going on within departments. The company culture and transparency is completely gone at RigUp. People with little to no managerial experience were put into manager roles because they knew the CEO or COO. There is little to no clear communication between teams now. The platform is an absolutely joke and they should stop saying they are a tech company and admit they are a consulting firm. Unless you are a bro or were one of the first 20 people hired, good luck on getting promoted or any career advancement. The only reason I am still at RigUp is because of the unlimited PTO and the flexibility to work from home.
