Pros

I've been with the company for a very long time and it's been an incredible growth opportunity for me. The company's culture is flat and participative which is a very progressive way to do business. This company is a family owned business that has grown because of the values and principles that were delivered by the founder. It allows all employees to have a say in how the business is run, crucial decisions are transparent and communication is frequent. What Rio stands for is an open structure, supporting us as employees, the jewelry community and simply put, it's a company that measures success not just by revenue but by happiness. This was evident when the entire facility added a large solar array over the entire parking lot. It's quite an amazing site to see and is just one example of the principles of business. - Great Wellness Program "Healthiest Place to Work Winner" - Creative brainstorming and communication - Transparency of financials and business decisions - Principled, flat culture that promotes expertise from within - Education reimbursement -Fair pay The biggest pro from my standpoint is that I work with really smart people. Exceptional coworkers.

Cons

Pros

-If you are a low-level employee, you will be given more freedom and input than you would in most places. -Lots of good, well meaning people work here. -Access given to employees about the financial state of the company in explicit detail. -Solar powered. -Employee discounts.

Cons

-The "Culture" which they are so proud of is essentially license for political games and an opportunity for the least informed person in the room to have a platform to derail meetings. -Lots of meetings with few results. -Coaches. Some are well meaning, some are not. Some are educated, some are not. Some know the business, some do not. Most of the politics happen at this level. For about half of them, it is very unclear that they do anything at all except attend meetings (irregularly and late) and receive CC'd emails. -Security checkpoints. Imagine going to the airport every day. Enough said. -VERY weak 401k match. -Most of the smartest people in the company are in the lowest positions, while many in a position of power are not nearly as smart as the people they "manage". Popularity or newness of the employee is often the deciding factor of who's ideas get done (when they get done at all).
