      Berkshire Hathaway Purchase

      Pros

      Great people and on top of technology, equipment and software.

      Cons

      Berkshire Hathaway bought Rio Grande. Berkshire is large company with big bucks for backing. You would think. They stopped hiring, no more raises, leadership getting pushed around.

      Pros

      Laid-back. If you are liked you can do well for a period of time.

      Cons

      Leadership is more concerned with the culture than the actual business. Rather than the culture existing to support business the business exists to support the culture. It's like a social experiment conducted by a grad student in the 90's but someone forgot to shut down the experiment after they were done collecting data. Leadership hides behind the company Principals in order to avoid accountability or make any real decisions. The Bells may be a nice family but they are not business people. They should have sold out to a company that has real leadership long ago. The Purchasing and Marketing departments are disgusting. Office politics, bullying, and incompetence abound. It is a mentally unhealthy environment.

      Pros

      People are great, fun and nice working environment. Depending on what team you are on, opportunity to grow professionally. No chance for promotions, but team environment makes up for it (depending on team).

      Cons

      Management structure prohibits growth...for the company and for employees. Flat business model, lacks leadership roles. Lots of petty office politics.
