Pros

I didn’t originally come onto Glassdoor with the purpose of writing a review—I was just curious to see what was being said about the company. After going through and reading these reviews, I am shocked and disappointed with all the negativity I’m seeing. The number one theme I keep seeing is that people are unhappy with the management. I’m going to be honest and say that I don’t agree with my managers 100% of the time, and quite frankly I don’t think I’ve ever spoken to anyone who thinks that their managers couldn’t possibly do a better job. However, they are absolutely NOT the villains they are made out to be. In my experiences, they’ve been transparent and respectful towards me. They won’t necessarily jump in to tell me how to do my job, but I’m grateful for that! I can’t stand the thought of being micromanaged, so having the freedom to do my work the way I think would be best is ideal for me. That said, I’ve never felt like I can’t go to my managers for assistance. They’re always available and do everything they can to help me out. I didn’t think I’d be spending my evening typing out a review to defend my managers, but here we are. I hope this clears some things up and encourages anyone looking into this company to get to know the management instead of being scared away by the few angry people who decided to slander them.

I covered what I wanted to and prefer not to fill out this section.

Pros

My experience at Rio Grande has been quite positive so far. My direct supervisor is encouraging and leads with positive reinforcement and corrects mistakes by making helpful suggestions and pointing out great results you can get by helping you tweak your methods. Upper management is energetic and readily gives recognition to outstanding employees. If you are a hard worker, the chances for advancement within the company are good. Benefits are above average - and it's a GREAT job if you love people and are detail-oriented. If you area great at customer service, this is the perfect job! If you work for Rio Grande, be prepared to have your ideas and suggestions actually listened to! You matter to them.

Cons

Not a lot, honestly. My feet hurt a bit after work, and sometimes the hours are long... but I have a job and I love the people I work with. I'm pretty happy being here.

Positive future at Rio

Pros

A lot of my colleagues have been with Rio for many years, so I’m happy knowing that I have a secure position at a company where I enjoy my job as much as the people I work with. Work-life balance is unbeatable, and salary as well as benefits are also good. Leadership is concerned with keeping the company evolving in a positive direction. They communicate their ideas with us and take feedback seriously. Even though I haven’t been here yet for very long, I see a positive future with Rio Grande.

Cons

Even though we’re given benefits, they could be better in my opinion.
