Im Currently a shift supervisor. The amount of cons to working at rite aid are endless, however I will try to keep it to a minimum : upper management is completely clueless to what goes on in stores, they expect way too much out of everyone and will treat you like their slave and order you around. Some DMs are pickier than others and require that every item in the store be aligned perfectly, everything cleaned spotlessly , basically busy work.. Upper management especially district office people care nothing about how employees feel, don't care about you in general unless you're a store manager who kisses tail. Even The store managers don't care about you unless you kiss their tail and dedicate your entire life to the company. Being a college student graduating soon, this is not my ideal job. Just one that (BARELY) pays my bills . I could get a job right now working for dominos delivering pizza that would pay me more than what I earn now. I've been with the company 6-7 years and earn only 9.36. While that may seem like a lot, it's not nearly enough for the amount of responsibilities they expect you to take on as a supervisor. Im expected to kiss everyones tail, bow down to customers, work every day with no day off, clean up after peoples dogs who dump in the aisles, clean up after people who spray the bathroom stalls with poo, watch peoples kids in the store when they dont, chase shoplifters out the door and so on. One major con is that if there is ever a conflict between you and a coworker or you and a customer you better believe you will be made out to be the bad person no matter what you did. The store manager will always side with the customer or the other party . Also there are no days off at all unless they choose to give you a random day off. Being a college student, I have other things going on in my life and don't have time to worry about retail . The past 5 times I've requested off for one day (not two days or a week or a month- ONE DAY) they have ignored my request and made me work. I made an appointment 5 months ago on a Saturday and five months ago i requested off, and because it was "my Saturday to work" I couldn't have that day off. Other than those cons, there are others I will briefly state: the managers are all rude and will demean you in front of a customer , you will be forced to work days you request off, you will be taught to kiss customers rears, you do not have a voice or a backbone while working at rite aid. As for myself, I'm about to put in my notice. after 7 years I've had Enough of this. The best advice I could give to anyone wanting to work for rite aid for any job type or position would be to run the other way as fast as you can . It is not worth it.
