Pros

From a NOC perspective, you will learn a great deal, as the network uses multiple vendors for transport, and service delivery. If you enjoy overtime hours, there is always plenty to work on. The good people there.

Cons

NOC is all in one. You must know, transport, IP, GPON, HFC, DSL, MPLS, BGP, VPLS, OSPF, SIP TRUNKs, T1's, SONAT, Access, Voice, VoIP, Managed Voice services...etc. You name it, you probably need to know it. NOC is the dumping ground for anything other departments don't want to Even when it is clearly in their wheelhouse to take care of. Inconsistent operational standards. Serious lack of communication, for a communications company.

Good Organization with very siloed departments

Pros

Good staff and good benefits

Cons

So many "walls" between departments and senior management that it's almost impossible for the whole organization to achieve any level of efficiency.
