The Company I've Been Looking For

Pros

When I started at Rivel, I raved about it to my family and friends. I felt so welcomed by all the employees, first by my reception on the first day, then by their earnest interest in my growth—both personal and career-oriented—and then by the day-to-day support. Since then, my enthusiasm for the company and my role in it has not dimmed. I still rave about my job to friends and family whenever asked. There is another review below mine that talks about how “when you’re here, you’re family.” This is something that many companies will say as a marketable selling point of their office environment, but Rivel is the only one I have yet seen that truly walks the walk—the culture here is the real deal. There are employees who have been here for 8, 10, 14, 19 years, and it’s easy to see why. At Rivel, I finally see my life past a 5-year plan. I see myself in a career that carries me forward, and this is in large part due to Rivel’s interest in job growth and upward mobility. In my short time here, there have been no fewer than 5 internal promotions, and it is made clear that, if you think your current position isn’t a perfect fit, you are free to move around within the company until you find a position where your skills can be optimally used. The people at Rivel care about each other. Beyond culture, the benefits are good, compensation is competitive, telecommuting is available for those who live relatively far away, there is a large PTO bank rather than time off broken down by vacation/sick/personal (which means you don’t have to fake illness to use sick time), and the company is growing exponentially, creating many exciting opportunities for job growth for those who work hard and are enthusiastic about Rivel’s upward trajectory. I’m happy to be part of the team, and I am looking forward to the future.

Pros

I started many years ago as an entry-level employee. Immediately, I was treated as family. I had an innate nature to keep my head down and do what was expected of me and more. That type of work ethic helped me grow in responsibilities, salary and position after putting in my time to learn the business and the market we engage. Hard work and passion for learning are highly valued at Rivel. New ideas are encouraged and access to senior management is always welcome.

Cons

The nature of the business we conduct is mostly project based, so there are months of the year when we are extremely busy. Naturally, this can be frustrating and overwhelming. Sometimes you have work a bit on vacation or on a day off, but again, that is the nature of the business.
