They need some serious help

They are close to my house

Cons

-They are only focused on money. -They run out of linen and hygiene products OFTEN. -Patients go hungry due to kitchen not providing proper proportions; they are not open after 6 and no extra food is provided for new admissions. -They do not follow the proper diets for patient's medical issues, so nurses end up giving insulin all day. -They will continue to admit patients despite not having enough staff to care for the patients. -They've been through 3 CEO's in less than 2 years. -They accept extremely aggressive patient's and numerous staff members have been seriously hurt.

Pros

-the psychiatrists are friendly and easy to staff patients with at the sister facility, Lakeview -immediate supervisor is supportive to counselors -the work itself is easy, but it can get overwhelming if there are multiple referrals at once, given that I cover an entire hospital and ER by myself. -learn a lot about medical problems quickly working with internal medicine, various specialities, not just psych. Most of the docs are friendly and pleasant

Cons

-Pay is on the lower end -Dealing with case managers/social workers at the contracted hospitals is a nightmare. Most are lazy, and defer workload to psych for everything just because it's a "psych patient" or have "substance abuse issues." Not every patient is clear-cut psych. They have co occurring medical issues, as well, but if case managers/social workers will do anything and everything they can to delay seeing the patient, they will. Not sure what clinical work they do all day covering only one floor, other than directing consults, and dragging their feet all day, not working. What the heck did they do before being spoiled by mental health workers? Most have nasty attitudes and are unpleasant to work with. -unrealistic expectations at the contracted hospitals from their managers
