      Pros

      Large health system in which most physicians are well trained with extensive experience.

      Cons

      Poor conflict resolution and widespread systemic/institutional racism makes it a very poor choice for a long term career; Nurses in the EDs are generally poorly trained with poor critical thinking compounded by thinking they know better than the doctors ironically based on their limited knowledge and experience, many of whom have only practiced in riversides setting. Too many cliques especially again among nurses to the detriment of the whole establishment.

      Pros

      This company has great benefits for anyone who is interested in obtaining more education to increase their marketability. I have seen a very positive improvement over the last few decades at Riverside when it comes to encouraging professionalism and input from the bedside nurse.

      Cons

      As with other healthcare companies in the Tidewater area, there is a tendency to promote leaders who are not willing to address bullying behaviors of others.

      Pros

      I was not mirco-managed. I had multiple duties which I enjoyed because I was always busy. I was free to learn new thing about the department I worked in

      Cons

      Riverside Health System does not take care of their dedicated employees. Those that do nothing seem to get away with doing nothing. Those that actually work hard are punished with more work
