Pros

Easy job, typical county government benefits, 90/80 work schedules available. A truly great place to work if you want to re-live Junior High and are still living with your parents.

Cons

Low pay - well below cost of living in CA. The data jobs in behavioral health are really for new grads who need that first job for their resumes. You need to leave here after 2 years if you want to grow professionally. Riverside County pension fund is over 3 $billion in the hole - good luck collecting retirement. Cold, dark depressing workspace in behavioral health dept. There are no windows where the employees work and you will literally never see the light of day - except for the 2 - 15 minute breaks where you are allowed to walk around the building on the hot asphalt. When you are inside you will need a heater by your desk even though outside heat is in triple digits. The poor pay and environment assures they are retaining only the most dysfunctional employees . The "girls" working there perpetuate the worst stereotypes of women in the workplace and have set back the cause for women professionals by at least 50 years. Constant gossiping, toxic cliques and party-planning are the norm. Brace yourself to be constantly hounded for financial contributions for birthday parties, etc. from your already meager pay - apparently Riverside County doesn't have a policy against this. Prepare to be ostracized by the cliques if you need to pay your bills and not play along with party time$. Virtually no opportunities for transfers to better jobs or departments within the county. Management is not above dirty tricks when trying to suppress the Unions.
