Pros

Nice office space, smart and goal oriented people, interesting business problems to solve and fast paced.

Cons

Some helpful things to consider when deciding if this place is for you, particularly if you work in tech: 1. Top Down Culture — Every decision and solution is ultimately owned by layers of people above. Not at all unique to Ro, but layers of approval and buy in will shape micro details and ways of working. 2. Not a very supportive environment for neurodiversity, for example, their human resources were unneccessarily aggressive when reaching out about potential accomodations (such as a assigned desk space) and generally its not a place that seems to have the time to care. 3. Lack of transparency and feedback. 4. Generally, there was an energy of mistrust because its a company in a very tough adolescent age of growth. The constant fires/moving goal posts, combined with new guards shifting in and out, there seems to be a lower threshhold of tolerance for any new processes or ways of working.

Ro Response

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re glad you find the work stimulating and enjoy collaborating with smart, goal-oriented teammates. On decision-making – As a healthcare company, there is a high need for visibility and alignment across various stakeholders. We believe that leadership being “in the weeds” alongside our teams is a “feature” and not a bug of the Ro culture so you’re right that it’s a helpful factor to consider in terms of what to expect at Ro. We’re truly sorry your experience seeking support didn’t feel constructive - the People team makes a big effort to be available, helpful and supportive to Ro’ers - so it’s disappointing that this was not how it felt for you. If you’re willing to have a more direct conversation so that we can learn from the experience and/or to discuss what accommodations may be helpful for you, please feel free to reach out to us at people@ro.co. On transparency and feedback, we know there’s room to grow. Clearer communication and more consistent feedback are priorities, and we have been in the process of working to improve here. Ro is a company that is growing and ever-changing while navigating a complex macro environment. We’re sorry to hear that you have experienced a feeling of mistrust - we do our best to share context, updates and guidance as we grow and change, but understand that there may be a desire for even more of that. And at the same time, we feel confident in the direction and culture we are creating together with a very talented team. Thanks again for your feedback — it helps us continue to grow and improve. If you would be willing to discuss any of this with us directly we would be appreciative and you can feel free to contact us at people@ro.co.

Pros

I had a chance to meet and work with some great coworkers.

Cons

Where to begin? There is no psychological baseline here - because there is no trust. Why isn’t there any trust? Because this company has a sorry excuse for leadership, ESPECIALLY within the product design teams. Every person in management (and above) backstabs, steals ideas, demeans, and points fingers. There is no way to win here unless you luck into the inner circle with office politics.
