Pros

There aren’t any pros that I can think of...

Cons

I’ve been a surgical technologist for 7 years. I started out worked in the NYC area and then traveled throughout the US working at different hospitals. Rochester General is disorganized to the point where I felt unsafe participating in the surgeries. From supplies to qualified staff, the place is lacking. Management comes and goes and the staff members are nasty human beings, I was treated like a pice of garbage since I walked in the door. Bullying is permitted, but if you stand your ground and stand up to the bully with words or reason, you get written up. The place is unreal.

Pros

-Hospital + Hospital System is undergoing change and growth! -Parking

Cons

-Pay: Many new grads that began working in 2020 started making 26.50~/hr. RGH said they paid the same starting hourly rate as URMC. While that was true, the pay raises between RRH and URMC have differed. After a year of working my hourly rate has gone up to 28.30 while all my peers who work at Strong Memorial or Highland make 30+/hr having 1) graduated at the same time and 2) with the same work experience. -Patient ratios: RNs in most med-surg units are required to care for 6-7 patients nearly every shift. If the unit has LPNs then the RN is in charge of 8-10 patients. -Inadequate staffing: not enough PCTs
