Pros

Bright, motivated colleagues Dedicated workforce at all levels Abudant resources Everyone counts Live within walking distance Working long hours is expected of everyone - so lots of company at all hours if you are similarly motivated

Cons

Younger Heads of Lab have a hard time sticking it out to get to tenure (12 year tenure track!), so a significant turnover amoung junior Heads of Lab. This makes it harder in the long run for graduate students who came from those labs than for graduate students who worked in the top, longstanding senior labs. Good strategy for students: find a junor HOL and senior HOL co-advisors -- best of both worlds.
