Pros

Good group of people - surprising though, after how staff are treated.

Cons

I was told I wasn’t allowed to learn on the job. I was told not to ask questions. No internal promotions. No management and communication is terrible. I was finding out information through our Facebook page instead of being told directly. So many secrets and lies. I was told by a senior manager that they lie to the media and to other management staff, including the CEO. VERY Sneaky ways to fire people. More legal compensation packages that I can count. Poor pay and minimal pay rises. I was told you’re expected to work 70+ hours a week to be considered for a pay rise and shares. Shares are promised but you’ll never see them. As with many other false promises.

Pros

The only saving grace of working here was the people. The guys who are constantly stood on by the leads are some of the best, hardest working bunch I know. I still hear how much they are used and abused by the company.

Cons

You are reeled in by the glitz of space but then you realise, your concerns are never going to get heard, major management issues are always going to be brushed off as needless complaining, you are NEVER getting paid or compensated for the over time that you are expected to do, there’s no such thing as a pay rise unless your already on 100+ k a year, and there’s no way a few launches a year can make you feel any better about this. You are another victim of the Rocket Lab curse. The staff are leaving faster then they are arriving for very legitimate reasons. Do yourself a favour, unless you actually want to work in the ‘space industry’, find another company to be a slave to.

Rocket Lab Response
5y
Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, it is great to hear that you loved the people at Rocket Lab. With regards to your concerns never being heard, we do strive to create an environment where employees feel comfortable discussing any issues with their manager or the People and Culture team. Factually, your comments regarding pay rises are inaccurate. We have annual performance and pay reviews and internal promotions are always rewarded accordingly. We also have a shares program which is offered to those who show hard work and commitment. Our current turnover sits at 15% which is lower than the NZ average. Rocket Lab has never left a review that isn't legitimate, and we never will. Many of our staff love working here and we receive a lot of positive feedback, which we work hard to maintain and continuously improve. Thanks again for your feedback. - Rocket Lab People and Culture
