Pros

Free gym and coffee. Gender and culture diversity

Cons

The priorities in Rocket Lab are. 1-profit. How this may affect you? No one is paid extra for working long hours. No bonuses since 2018. Small salaries for big engineers. What team building events. Warm beer at the Christmas do 4years straight. Your AKL expenses increase disproportionately to your wages. 2-Quality. To distract you from the main priority, make it interesting and to give the investors tangible data driven insight to the future of the product. 3-Competition. Out-do your peers or be forgotten. 4-All other things. Company Image. Policy. Timesheet accuracy. 5-People. The culture is abysmal, people and culture team are the rock inside the shoe. Some improvements over the years but the hands are tied, just like the managers. If you become a squeaky wheel with remuneration 9/10 you will be constructively dismissed. Nothing will change unless rocket lab runs out of fans.

Hi there, It’s great to hear that you enjoyed some of the perks of working at Rocket Lab! Unfortunately due to COVID we were unable to have any large events, including our usual Christmas party, as much as we would have loved to have all of our staff together. However during the year we did have multiple online events to try and connect our people as best we could. We hope 2022 is the year we can finally have everyone together to celebrate the success we have had in 2021. Quality continues to be a focus for us and we are always looking at ways to improve. When your sending rockets to space you’ve got to make sure that every intricate detail is to the highest standards, which is why we also hire the best employees to deliver to this. We are sad to hear that you didn’t enjoy the culture at Rocket Lab. We understand that it isn’t for everyone, but we do pride ourselves on having a top notch team. With regards to bonuses, we do have a share incentive scheme, as we all as an employee share purchase program, which is very lucrative. Thanks again for taking the time to leave a review. -Rocket Lab People & Culture

Pros

The experience on your Resume

Cons

It’s an unfair workplace that continues to take from employees until they are ground in to the dirt. They even asked staff to work for free during lockdown, so they didn’t get behind in production. No doubt at all the the VPs and above still got paid!

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. With regards to your comment about asking employees to work for free during lockdown, none of our staff were asked to work and were paid at least 80% of their wages during this time. If you could provide a specific example of when this occurred (anonymously) to peopleandculture@rocketlab.co.nz so we can investigate, it would be appreciated. Thanks again for your feedback and we hope you provide some more insight into your comments. -Rocket Lab People and Culture

Hi there, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear you felt that there was pressure to work longer hours than you felt comfortable with. We acknowledge that many of our employees go above and beyond in terms of the hours they put in, and we encourage any of our employees who are struggling with their work-life balance to raise this with the People and Culture team, and we can support you by working with your manager to redistribute workloads, explore where the efficiency of tasks/processes can be improved, and hire extra hands if required. If you have any other examples of what you describe as a silent code, or would like to share any of your ideas for improvement to our company culture with us, please email us confidentially at peopleandculture@rocketlab.co.nz. Thanks again and hope to hear form you soon, -Rocket Lab People and Culture
