Supporting Environment, Meaningful Challenges
Pros
The thing I like the most at RL is that we have very big challenges associated with a great and supporting engineering team and product team. In some years working here, never saw any moment in which people would suffer harassment. People in general does not get too much overloaded with work (only enough for keeping their commitment and focus). And when we do have some more critical project, the teams work very collaboratively. We would occasionally resort to very high intensity work schedules (once or twice a year), but I would not consider that too problematic. Overall, the teams have a very low turnover and there are several people with many years of experience working solely at Rocket Lawyer. Also, the products are very well known by the market and the customers receive a lot of value.
Cons
The way the product releases work usually leaves some gaps, bugs and unaddressed technical debt, which might require some extra engineering management effort to keep those in track. But it's just the same in other companies, right?
