Pros

Have some good talented people who were good to work with. They are advanced inasmuch as they allow most positions to be telecommuters, even managers. The pay about industry average. The CEO is a great guy but his influence has diluted since the company is now so big, greater than 1000 employees.

Cons

Poor development standards, rushing code to market before its ready. Poor organizational standards, managers can have 15-25 direct reports. Expectations to work 50-60 hours a week. An influx of inferior management personnel from IBM will eventually be the death of Rocket.

Pros

Rocket provided the freedom to make business decisions with customers which I thought was critical when negotiating with customers in a timely manner. The commission structure was good and management often added additional sales incentives. It was a pleasure to work with some great people at Rocket who are really smart and hard working. Rocket does have some good products with some very satisfied customers.

Cons

Rocket has many many software solutions that do not really fit together in one cohesive product portfolio. Very little training was provided so it was difficult to having meaningful conversations with customers when you were speaking about storage competing against EMC, then expected to discuss BI competing against Tableau, and then next discuss mainframe tools competing against CA and IBM (who happened to be our #1 partner). The website was awful for years which definitely hurt sales while Rocket continued to spend a lot of money on leadership summits and sales consultants which both failed to add much value in my eyes. Rocket does have some good solutions but most products fit into the category of declining to zero new sales with a large but declining maintenance revenue stream.

Pros

Dynamic environment, lots of change. Plenty of opportunity to make a difference if given the chance. The people are friendly and helpful, with a genuine desire to make each other successful. Great partnership relationship with IBM.

Cons

Frequent leadership and management changes at the CXO and SVP level. Lack of a clear strategy or plan on how to grow the business.
