Idyllic mission with insufficient leadership experience

Pros

Amazing concept and mission. I love the idea of providing these severely at-rick kids with educational resources that they would otherwise not be able to receive.

Cons

The entire staff is 30 or under with extremely limited teaching experience (almost all are first year teachers through TFA or AmeriCorps) The leadership has little teaching experience and even less experience in school administration.

Great concept, poor implementation

Pros

-Great kids -Good benefits -Hardworking & teachers and staff -High standards for kids -Pretty good results

Cons

-Dehumanizes students and teacher -Administration not very open to any suggestions or feedback, and will view it as an attack on them or the culture and gets way too defensive if anything is questioned -Lack of diversity among administration and teachers. MOST minorities are para's, lab aides or low paying staff -Not a lot of professional development for anyone but teachers -Not enough support for students with IEP's and need special accommodations -bilingual education looked down open and will not consider ESL for students who barely speak any English -The blended technology model isn't working. Kids aren't interested in the computer programs that are supposedly tailoring their lessons to their level and ability. They click on random answers to just get through their lessons. That isn't an accurate portrayal of their actual abilities which makes the "personalized lessons" ineffective and pointless.

cute kids, not much else to say. Higher ups are horrible. Teachers are nice.

Cons

corporate culture, morons in charge, stay away from this place.
