Pros

Flexible schedule, good pay, and good benefits. Facilities are fairly well kept and co-workers are generally adept. Company events like picnic and engineer activities. Mentoring activities and growth opportunities for young engineers.

Cons

Working with old technologies, rigid mentality and culture, slow to change, progress is very slow, overly reliant on Microsoft. Processes in different groups may vary and cause conflict. Working with groups in different time zones is challenging. Some groups unable/unwilling to work toward common goal. Security and intellectual property concerns are paranoid. Security measures make work difficult. Company is so behind the competition that there is little or nothing to protect. Low water pressure -- what is with the water?

Pros

Many nice people who would like to make changes for the positive.

Cons

Poorly organized, elitist culture, behind the times technically, very political, don't know what they don't know. Will read an article on innovative approaches and decide they are experts...

Pros

You get a lot of hands on experience as well playing with a lot of automation toys which can be a break from typical office cubical world. The training they give in the beginning is great too.

Cons

Field Service Engineering position is the lowest engineering position at Rockwell. They hire Engineering Technology majors, even technicians with enough experience to do the job. Basically you don't need a real engineering degree to do the job. Sales people (& everyone else at Rockwell) consider Field Service Engineers replaceable and therefore try to abuse them as much as they can. Also one note about sales engineers, they have ZERO technical knowledge about what they sell. So they could sell an automation product claiming it will cure cancer and you have to go to customer and actually do it.
