Pros

Great atmosphere at work and very knowledgeable engineers.

Cons

I've been here many years and staff development has always been a weak spot; the career development for non-management staff is very slow and growth is very linear. I've seen many colleagues leaving the company only after a few years because of its location in Derby.

Pros

As an engineer at Rolls-Royce, your job role may range from a highly technical role (fluid systems analyst) to report writing. In any role, however, you are guaranteed to be constantly learning. Cons

The company is slow to adopt change in software and functions quite bureaucratically. These factors are understandable and typical of large corporations, but can have a significant effect on work efficiency.

Pros

Salary and benefits are good. Pay raise and bonus nearly every year. Generally not much OT. High level of job security.

Cons

Difficult to get tasks complete. If you enter the proper request to get a purchase order or have an invoice paid it is most likely to not get done unless you follow up numerous times. The systems are a generally broken. Too many road blocks to work around. Generally poor management. If you find a good manager, stick with them. Depending on your role; interaction with the British can be painful.
