Pros

20% Discount 40% Discount 3 times per year. There are always hours that you can work because associates are always calling in. You can advance very quick with the company if you want to go to the next level. Great vac, sick time and benefits for full time associates

Cons

The customers are rude, messy, very needy, and just plain off the streets. They pay is not worth it for sales associates or Area Supervisors for the work you put in. They is never enough payroll and we are always short staff. Anybody can get a job at Ross so you will work with some lazy people that don't care. If you close, be prepared to stay late picking up clothes that the customers throw on the floor and leave. The District Managers treat you like you are nothing and expect the store to look like Macy's when there is no payroll. The turnover rate is horrible!!

Pros

I have been working at Ross for about 2 and half months now and I surprised myself in how much I enjoy it. Our new store manager is very organized and makes sure we all get our breaks when we are supposed to get them (you never knew when your break was with the old manager). He is very kind and came up to me and shook my hand when he walked into the store one day. Everyone is very personable and helpful. Time off is very flexible (this is both a pro and a con because there are so many employees available to cover shifts you don't get that many hours anyway unless you are full time). If you are going to school, Ross will work around your school schedule, the same goes for if you work 2 jobs. I used to work at Kmart and I can't help but compare. At Kmart they are always pushing you to sell what they called "smart plans" and their credit cards. It can be very uncomfortable at times. You won't find any of that at Ross. Your job is to just provide friendly customer service and maintain a clean store.

Cons

Not too many downsides... Compensation isn't the best. Minimum wage. But really... its retail so retail typically only pays minimum wage anyway. The customers treat the store like its their bedroom and just throw clothes all over the place and leave it for the employees to pick up. Few hours for part time employees. At times, there is very little recognition for a job well done.
