I've also worked at Westmed. Royal Ambulance has a happier work culture and provides better training. Also, overall better base rate pay than Westmed.

Cons

Expect less emergency transports compared to other "IFT" companies in the South Bay like Westmed Ambulance. They do not have contracts with SC Valley Medical Center, SCVMC Psych Emergency, Elmwood Correctional facility, or SC County Main Jail. These provided lots of higher acuity cases at Westmed which I missed at Royal Amb.

Pros

Royal will provide you with a respectful work environment. Royal's employees are wonderful people to work with and the supervisors are kind and understanding. You will leave the company feeling prepared to continue on your journey through patient care professions. While it is possible to be held over time in ambulance jobs, Royal dispatchers are exceptionally good at managing calls so that employees most often get off on time.

Cons

Royal is continuing to phase out old equipment and ambulances but still uses a number of outdated rigs that are less than optimal. That being said, the company knows this and is making an effort to get new rigs.
