      great place to work for a first healthcare job!!

      Pros

      -friendly EMT's -great supervisors -dispatchers are sweet, especially when you make an effort to meet and communicate with them -CEO is interactive with staff -beautiful base (San Leandro) -always have shifts available to pick up -incentives!!!! for picking up shifts, call bonuses, etc.

      Cons

      -outdated equipment (especially the manual gurneys) -scheduling can be tough; especially when changing availability- there are not enough people in charge of scheduling, so it can be easy to feel forgotten by them; pre-scheduled meetings with the scheduling leader often get forgotten about/ delayed -there is no way to request LWOP (leave without pay); you can only request vacation time, or have to get shift covered by others

      Pros

      I turned down offers at AMR, NORCAL Ambulance, ProTransport-1 and Bay Medic Ambulance to work at Royal Ambulance, and I am SO HAPPY I did. This was my first job in EMS and Royal supported me every step of the way. There's great opportunities to become a Field Training Officer, work on Critical Care Transport units, Ops and more. My professional goals are very demanding and Royal worked with my schedule to make sure I could keep making progress while still gaining valuable experience as a BLS provider. If you live in the Bay Area and want to start and/or grow your EMS career, Royal is the place to do it.

      Manual stretchers on non-bariatric rigs.
