Pros

Like to teach, like to make a real difference ... but, this is NOT a place for that.

Cons

Very good propaganda machine. This is sweet shop, lots of pretentions, very little truth, money-First environment; employee = squeeze and throw lemon (extremely low pay, only 10-14 hours per week...expect to do some extra work for free), kids ... just money source. "Russian School of Mathematics" ... only name, nothing 'Russian' is there.

Pros

there is nothing positive to tell about this business

Cons

A typical mom-and-pop business with unprofessional, arrogant, and highly opinionated management and administration. Predominantly hiring, as they call it, "desperate" Eastern European recent immigrants, to exercise their totalitarian control and micromanagement. They put enormous responsibility and pressure on their school principals, and underpay their teachers, who are considered expendable. This business never appreciates the human factor, treating their personnel as a commodity or objects. Everything is geared to praising "their way" and "their" curriculum, which in fact is an amalgam of published Soviet/Russian original materials, adapted to the US environment. The whole business is driven by the relentless pursuit of financial gain to the benefit of the owners.

Unpaid Work

Business Outlook

Pros

Great co-workers, flexible schedule, great math program

Cons

Underpaid, Underpaid, Underpaid. You will have low wages and will do a lot of unpaid work, for instance, grading tests, communicating with parents, preparing report cards, etc. The salary increase will be around $1-$2 per year (this is lower than the inflation rates in some States (!) ) with extra delays because of some 'uncertainties' from managers. The bonus you'll get will depend on the number of re-enrolled students which brings extra unpaid work with the parents. I strongly believe, keeping the enrollment rate high is NOT the responsibility of teachers. The managers should hire professionals for this. A lot of teachers stay here for a short period and then leave. It is fair enough if it's your first work and you don't have other opportunities, but it is better to leave this company as soon as possible.
