If you Want To Put Your Career Into a Tailspin, Ryder Is Your Answer

Pros

If you do not have a home or personal life, the demands of working long hours with zero recognition at Ryder are perfect.

Cons

Ryder System, Inc. This is the epitome of an organization where the only button on their control panel says “Self Destruct”. During the past 20+ years they have inundated themselves with inept employees at middle and upper-level management positions who have neither people nor leadership skills. The business is run like a child day care center where the focus is strictly on today, without regard to its’ non-existent one, three or five year plan. Imagine that; why plan for the future unless you realize you do not have one. Management has made Ryder completely insignificant in a marketplace founder Jim Ryder created. Ryder over the past six years has twice as many negative sales months as positive ones. There is zero customer focus at the top which constantly adds to the run-away list of ‘former customers’. When it comes to bringing in quality talent, there is always room for Ryder’s revolving-door HR group to add empty suits to its special interest employee pool. Anyone considering a career in this dysfunctional zoo better think long and hard before signing on. Take the time to track down a former employee and get the straight scoop.

Warwick Location Lied To Me.

Pros

Great work environment with excellent training and opportunities as long as one is open to moving around or taking on new challenges!

Cons

BAD MANAGEMENT. They hired me saying they wanted an entry level diesel technician, then let me go two months later because they suddenly decided they wanted a master tech instead. I rejected another job offer to take on this one. I was fully committed, inspired, and motivated only to be let go for something out of my control? If they didn't want an entry level tech, a recruiter should not have called me to tell me about a supposed position that they needed me for when clearly they did not. Employee morale at my location seemed up and down sometimes as well.

Pros

Good rapport with counterparts and subordinates, however, upper management is more interested in promoting their own agendas as opposed to benefitting the company.

Cons

Upper management cannot be trusted. Complete lack of communication, compulsory unpaid weekend overtime for salaried employees. NO chance for advancement, unless you're a member of the "boys club." Lack of diversity and inclusion, although it is denied naturally. Complete disdain and disrespect for the hourly union workers.
