Pros

Pay was competitive. Great benefits.

Cons

No training was given for the complex customer service oriented job. I was told I would be trained for 6 plus months but never recieved it. For my first 4 months working at ryder there was no location manager. Lack of communication was an everyday problem. We were down a supervisor as well and I had to cover down on that position as well despite the lack of training or bump in pay.

Pros

Ownership of an account and all of the details that go with it. Great support from other managers with your team unit. The ability to have a good relationship with your customer and drivers.

Cons

Management changes-3 senior managers in my 18 month stint at Ryder each with different approaches and expectations. The customer is always right- even if they are very wrong, verbally abusive, and border line mental 24/7 to you and your drivers. I addressed this issues numerous times and it was blown off. Constant changing safety policies that are hard to keep up, just when you have something down bam it changed. Work life balance is a joke if your customer runs 362 days a year and your manages in training quit on you meaning 7 day work weeks. Finally, Flex model is designed to simplify things plus reduce work staff across the nation as well, it their way of saying yeah we are keeping younger and cheaper workers and out with the older higher paying managers. I was laid off and told I have 45 days to find another account near me or remotely which there were zero.
