Pros

Plenty of room for advancement if you put your mind to it, though most advancement requires you to move beyond your initial location as managers have favorites.

Cons

Lack of quality managers and supervisors. Favoritism does come into play though it became less prevalent as the years went on. Lack of emphasis on employee retention. Outside supervisors were brought in rather than promoted from within. Over four years, 7 supervisors came and went with 5 of those being on one shift. No incentive to do more than the bare minimum. Quality of job is dependent on which client Ryder is contracted to at a facility.

Pros

Good benefits, stability, adequate pay, ability to relocate. Some truly good people out there (that are often tarnished by the overwhelming number of bad)

Cons

Terrible middle management that seems stuck in the 80s. Older management staff that seems threatened by the younger generation. Lower salaries than industry standard. Not enough support personell. Every task or challenge is a trade off. If you want to excel at something then something else will fall to the wayside.

Pros

Dry Cleaning service. Cafeteria. Generally friendly people.

Cons

Serious operational issues make it extremely difficult to focus on actual work. Getting resources and permissions is a bureaucratic nightmare. Goals are often lofty, but responsibility is often left unassigned and details left unspecified, so these goals are left to stagnate. Ryder also has a culture of finger pointing and unnecessary meetings, and a lack of focus on productive work. There are a lot of long-time paper shufflers and bureaucrats at this large, slow-moving, disorganized company.
