Pros

I am a graduate of Ryerson Academy and my time there was very valuable. As part of the training program we had: Immediate immersion in the metals industry Hands on experiences with all aspects of the business (supply chain, operations, sales, etc) Exposure to senior leadership on a regular basis Opportunities to shine as both an individual and a team Broad based training such as negotiations or sales training, as well as individualized development based on aptitude and desire. Excellent work life balance, work ends when you leave work.

Cons

Occasionally there is more hype about a given opportunity or project than warranted. Good general training, but could improve on preparing for what the "real" day to day of your career will be like after graduation. There is a one size fits all pay structure that does not allow for people with more education or experience to negotiate, sort of a "take it or leave it" offer. Concerning for future compensation discussions.

Pros

None that I could think of at this time.

Cons

Bought out by Platinum then sold out the union employee's at Cincinnati plant. Management was the problem in Cincinnati not the warehouse employee's, Men with 15+ working years let go with no regard to their years of service or experience. Ryerson was an awesome company to work for until it was sold to Platinum.
