Pros

To this day I remain a proud and passionate employee of Ryerson. I always feel my opinions are heard and are valued from my co-workers to senior management . To me there is nothing more important than going home at the end of a work day taking pride in the work you do and feeling its importance to such a professional organization.

Cons

The economy makes our business a challenging place to work but Ryerson is always up to the challenge! Always looking ahead for better ways to be the best.

Ryerson is a company that has a powerful legacy; 175 years in business! The organization was built on the premise of hard work, strong service and an entrepreneurial spirit. If you want opportunity, there is plenty of it as the company continues to evolve. This company is not afraid to admit where we have gaps but then gives its employees the opportunity to be part of addressing the gaps. I am proud to work at a company where you can interact with all levels of the organization. It is a roll up your sleeves culture! Ryerson is a company where you can access the CEO or senior leaders easily. Ryerson also has locations everywhere so opportunities are far reaching if you are open to making a move!

Cons

There is a legacy culture that is evolving; you have to be patient as some changes don't happen quickly.

Pros

The company is willing to meet you half way with your career aspirations. Growing age of work force means several opportunities for younger employees to grow and succeed. I have only ever experienced an open door policy, and coworkers from the truck drivers to the senior management group are willing to answer questions.

Cons

Working in a business centered around buying and selling commodities can be challenging when prices go up or down. Some branches seem disjointed with others.
