Management is hands-off and allows for self-direction 5 weeks vacation! Incentives for completing certifications and degrees Wide variety of projects and tasks

Cons

Very uneven performance reviews showing obvious favoritism Lots of deadwood middle management and program managers Revolving door between company and government employees Large numbers of former military commanders trying to run the place like a military command Very little opportunity for women to lead or move up

Pros

large company size theoretically allows more opportunity for advancement and moving around on different projects, probably enhances overall job security

Cons

One year later, another internal employee survey later with the same results as the past however many years running... communication, communication, communication. Management's response for the umpteenth time is "We hear you, we're striving to improve." Management says employees are their first priority, but don't follow up on the speeches with action. At my annual review, my manager said with a straight face that my annual acheivements didn't matter because this review was just to get everybody into the new performance evaluation system. Recently, hundreds of employees were shocked to have many of their benefits stripped way back as part of a contract negotiation to win a big contract. The benefits change effectively gave most people a 3% pay decrease, but management still says employees are their #1 priority. These benefits changes only affect a portion of the overall workforce, though, which means that some employees retain benefits such as 401k company match, better leave hours earned, and lower insurance premiums.

Pros

There aren't too many other than the flexible schedule.

Cons

The project I'm working on does NOT have any focus. Management is incompetent and foolhardy. They generally tend to roll their own solutions with no respect with what their peers are doing even if there are better solutions. Very arrogant management. No control of the customer. The customer leads the business relationship.
