Pros

Ability to work from home

Cons

I was recruited to SAIC from my military career. They promised me two years of employment in BD as I developed the market. Two months into the job, the company split and my position was eliminated and I was moved into a new division. They kept me around out of sympathy. I was laid off after 11 months. Lay off was over the phone. They never told me during recruiting that a split was impemding. They basically lied to this 22 year military veteran. They withheld that information. While working there, I found blatent lying and a culture of sucking up. I think this was only in he division I was transferred to. Perhaps the rest of the company is OK.

Pros

when your group wins work, you're busy and billable, and there are opportunities to learn

Cons

poor collegiality between staff overly secretive even when the work does not require it company is very silo-ed, intracompany work impossible or very hard to do management has zero sense of loyalty to staff all overhead generated from years of being >75% billable meant nothing when we lost our contract i was given zero time to look for new work and company recruiters (emailed every single one of them, not one replied) were 100% useless i was kept on staff but received no pay when we lost our contract (ultimately, i left the company)

Pros

They're splitting into "two discreet companies". In reality, they're dropping more staff and creating 2 monsters that do the same stuff as one another.

Cons

My comments above provide an ample summation.
