Pros

Work-life balance and benefit packages are excellent

Cons

R, a free statistical software, has been overwhelming SAS and there seems no future there. Jobs skills that one would obtain in SAS are very specific only to SAS and useless in other company, so you would have nowhere else to go if you would get laid-off.

Pros

BENEFITS. BENEFITS. BENEFITS. It's all anyone (in my line of work) will tell you is the number one reason they stay. A slightly higher pay than the secular population (i.e,..private preschools, public daycares - Bright Horizons, Goddard School, Little Pros, etc.) Well maintained aesthetically Montessori based-work environment/building/equipment.

Cons

Little to no movement. When positions are posted - well assumed favored candidates are pre-selected before interview process. Only division within company that confers with surrounding peer employees for feedback on whether candidates are good "fit". Subs, Floaters, Assistants all consider as one lateral position(s) - meaning no pay differential, even though more responsibility is generally expected from each position. #1 Con: Vacations. Only 6 people in daycare allowed off per day. Makes planning & ability to take vacation a virtual lottery nightmare.

Pros

Work/life balance is good to some extent.

Cons

Federal leadership is very passive aggressive and does not understand how conduct business with the Federal Government. Organization marginalizes account executives.
