Pros

Working at SCAN has been some of the most meaningful and growth-stretching work of my career. There is a clear and compelling mission to improve the healthcare experience for seniors, and many leaders and employees are deeply committed to doing what is right for members. Because SCAN is not driven by shareholder pressure, the organization is able to move quickly, challenge the status quo, and make decisions grounded in impact rather than optics. You are given the opportunity to partner closely with the business, influence change, and contribute in a real way to something that is actively evolving. Working at SCAN has genuinely changed my career and made me a better leader. There is a strong culture of collaboration and space for innovation, which pushes you to grow, think differently, and show up at a higher level.

Cons

SCAN is not perfect. We are growing quickly, which means we are building in real time and constantly pushing ourselves and each other to be better. The pace and level of change can be challenging, and not everyone is comfortable operating in that kind of environment. This is a high-expectation culture. The work requires you to think critically, operate both strategically and executionally, and bring a point of view even when things are not fully defined. You are expected to influence, navigate complexity, and take ownership in real time. For some, this can feel intense. For others, it is what creates the opportunity to grow, stretch, and have meaningful impact.

Pros

Amazing mission driven company that puts its money where its mouth is. Invests in members and is building out its clinical capabilities in a meaningful way.

Cons

Non-profit status sometimes means less access to capital compared to for-profit competitors.

We regret hearing about your negative experience. We understand that change can feel unsettling at times, especially as SCAN continues to go through a period of rapid growth. While this growth has brought necessary adjustments and organizational changes, it also represents a positive and exciting stage in our journey, allowing us to expand our impact, create new opportunities, and strengthen long-term stability for our employees and members alike. That said, as we’re always looking for ways to further strengthen our company culture and processes, our leadership maintains an open-door policy to allow for candid feedback from all levels of the organization with the option to submit anonymously at any time. As you have moved on from SCAN, we wish you the best in your future pursuits.
