Pros

There’s an overall sense of organization and established systems.

Cons

Even with that structure, things don’t always feel aligned across teams, so you’re working within a system that looks organized but doesn’t always function smoothly end-to-end. You complete your part, but something else doesn’t quite match up… and now you’re circling back. It’s subtle, but it keeps happening.

Pros

Okay pay and benefits help, I suppose.

Cons

The backbone of the technology department consists almost entirely of contract and temporary employees, who are hired and fired at the whim of out-of-touch and incompetent directors and vice presidents. These turnovers cause catastrophic loss in knowledge and massive technical debt; this company is being held together by hopes and dreams, with issues being kicked down the road and covered up by hiring a revolving door of executives. These critical contract/temporary employees are conveniently left off of the internal employee satisfaction score emails, but you'll see HR continue to cite the 91% satisfaction rate in Glassdoor responses. Their replies have no basis in reality and do not provide an accurate picture of the low morale that is present at the company. In fact, a former colleague reached out to me saying that their review of SCAN was "reported", but Glassdoor sided with them and kept the review up. I advise potential employees to truly read through recent reviews with high "helpful" votes, as SCAN HR does its best to cover up critical and valid issues.

Pros

The work itself has purpose and directly impacts people.

Cons

At some point, the emotional exhaustion isn't even from the work—it's from everything around it. You're trying to focus, trying to stay present, and then you run into issues that shouldn't even be there... like missing details, unclear next steps, things that should've been handled already. You fix it. Fine. Then something similar shows up again later. And it's like... okay... I just dealt with this. It's not one big breaking point. It's the repetition. The constant interruptions that pull you away from what actually matters. And over time, that just... drains you more than it should.
