      Pros

      Positive local reputation. Aggressive expansion leads to more career opportunities.

      Cons

      What once was a shining beacon among the sea of soul-less health insurance companies that pride themselves on its morals of putting the member and their families first, is now a shell of itself after becoming the victim of a hostile takeover driven by corporate greed, aggressive expansion, and the desire for optics over outcomes. The new leadership brings a hostile work environment, a new vs old culture clash, and a wave of inexperienced highly compensated executives to lead the charge to innovate and dilute what once made this company special, all in the effort to increase the bottom line. The demoralizing culture has driven the exit of many exceptional employees that made up this company's secret sauce.

      Future Not Looking Rosy

      They're based in Long Beach, California.

      Cons

      Mass layoffs. Many of the Directors and ppl at the top are absolutely clueless.. IT especially. They let go of talented employees, many of whom had been loyal employees at the company for many years (same day notice, machine shut off immediately after the HR talk). But I guess that's how SCAN treats their employees now since the new CEO came onboard (pretended to be down to earth and encouraged all employees to respond with "brutal honesty" via email on what could be improved at the org. Well, looks like that 411 translated). The people that are left are the sycophants. The place has gone downhill. What used to be a good place to work where everyone was united by a noble mission is now a shell of its former self.

      Leaving because of toxic environment

      Pros

      reasonable managers that come to hr for help and we cannot help them.

      Cons

      I have worked there for over 3 years and this department does not value its employees. We all push paper and there is no desire to move HR into 2020. I am leaving the company because I don't feel valued and my voice does not matter. This will continue and nothing is ever going to change.
