Pros

Compensation is competitive, including a strong base pay and bonus structure. The organization offers generous benefits such as recharge days, excellent PTO and occurrence policies, and thoughtful holiday gifts that demonstrate appreciation for staff. Overall, the benefits package and time-off policies are well above average.

Cons

I am not a direct employee SCAN health plan , but work under the organization’s umbrella. My experience with a specific supervisor involved excessive micromanagement that created an unnecessarily stressful work environment (yes, even remotely) This included frequent monitoring of team status throughout the day, repeated emails, texts even to my personal phone, close scrutiny of my work and performance , recurring unscheduled team calls lasting 30–60 minutes that were not placed on my calendar or accounted for in time tracking Communication often referenced potential HR involvement in a passive or indirect manner as a scare tactic. The lack of clear boundaries, advance scheduling, and consistent communication expectations made it difficult to manage workload efficiently and negatively impacted work-life balance.

We regret hearing about your negative experience, but are glad to see that you enjoy our robust benefits offerings and the programs we’ve implemented to support work-life balance for our Rebels (employees). We want to be clear – there is no room for scare tactics or other behaviors that undermine trust here at SCAN. Additionally, all time-tracking laws are expected to be followed by employees and leaders alike, and feedback and communication is to be conducted with professionalism, respect, and transparency. Creating a positive work environment where all of our Rebels can collectively contribute to our mission to keep seniors healthy and independent matters deeply to us, and with 91% of our Rebels saying that SCAN is a great place to work according to our Great Place to Work survey, we want to continue to head in the right direction. That said, we hear you and encourage all employees to share their feedback, whether through surveys, direct conversations, or other channels. Honest input is not only welcomed, but essential in helping us improve as we continue to grow and evolve as an organization, and no one should feel hesitant to make their voice heard. Please don’t hesitate to share your feedback with a member of the HR team at peoplerelations@scanhealthplan.com at any time.

Pros

Resources and staffing levels suggested the potential for effective operations, if anyone had the authority to act.

Cons

Almost every decision had to pass through multiple layers, causing endless delays - Many approvals added no real value, only frustration - Responsibility was so diluted that no one was accountable for outcomes - Frontline issues were ignored while focus remained on rigid procedures - Practical solutions were sidelined in favor of following process - Progress stalled and morale plummeted as problems lingered unresolved

We regret hearing about your negative experience. Being in a highly regulated industry, certain review and approval processes are necessary to ensure compliance, accountability, and responsible decision-making. These are intended to protect our members, employees, and the organization, not to create unnecessary barriers or slow progress. As we’re always looking for ways to further strengthen how we deliver care for our members, we continuously evaluate how these processes function in practice and look for opportunities to improve clarity, efficiency, and ownership. Our leadership also maintains an open-door policy to allow for candid feedback from all levels of the organization with the option to submit anonymously at any time. As you have moved on from SCAN, we wish you the best in your future pursuits.

Pros

I don't think I experienced anything good here.

Cons

Overwhelmed and stressed employees. Unethical management and fear based leadership. They have no respect for employees and constantly belittled. Horrible.
