Worst Organization I have ever worked for.

Pros

There is nothing good about this organization.

Cons

The worst I have ever been treated by an organization/employer was working for this union. I was expected to work a minimum of 12 hours per day (a flagrant violation of the collective agreement) all while being verbally abused and bullied by my lead. When brought to management's attention, we sat down in a room and talked about it, and then went back to the exact same nightmare. Trust me when I say that you do not want to work for this organization. It's incredibly unorganized, your job is to fight for worker's rights all while having your own rights violated, and there is no support system. They will work you to death, chew you up, and spit you out.

inconsistencies and lack of long term vision

Pros

You can sometimes work on experimental and innovative campaigns

Cons

During the interview, myself and many others were promised a 5,000 bonus once we reached 6 months but after the 6-month mark, they claimed they never remembered offering that to us. They had us training new organizers after only working for 3 months. Complete incompetence, adversarial at times, little respect for your life outside of work and responsibilities, poor internal education.

Pros

Organizers, researchers, communicators and admin staff are some of the most dedicated to the cause, hard-working people you'll meet.

Cons

Career advancement is rare and highly politicized, internal deliberations are opaque, senior management has no respect for staff. The management-staff culture in the field and at headquarters is dysfunctional. Work is siloed and closely directed, with little done to harness the passion and creativity of people who work there.
