Pros

Schlumberger is a company that thrives on technology and progress. It is not afraid of trying new things and sometimes actually encourage it. They take care of their employees, and they have a culture of continual growth and progression. They don't want you to be stuck in one place and that is it; they will push you to expand your knowledge base and grow within the company. Their ideal employee would reach manager-level position within the first three to four years of working with the company. You are always sent to training courses and many of them are overseas. Promotions are not requested, they're expected. If you don't get some sort of promotion every year, its your manager who has to answer to why that is the case.

Cons

Sometimes the workload might seem overwhelming. The pressure of fulfilling your duties AND meeting your education requirements (yes, working with Schlumberger is like having a job and going to school at the same time) is a lot to handle. You need dedication and lots and lots of hard work. You might feel, at times, squeezed out.

Pros

Dynamic organization, training programs are excellent, career is limited only by potential, multiple career paths, international careers and exposure, offsets are paid for difficult living environments, well respected name, best research and development program in th eindustry

Cons

Lifestyle is difficult, organization is slow to respond at times and rigid, due to sheer numbers the business systems generally operate under the Pareto principle, competition is not always equal, having seniority or being senior is not always a plus
