Pros

Exposure to the biggest projects, newest technology and part of a respected group of professionals within the industry.

Cons

For the most part Schlumberger does not consider your personal life to be of much importance - within a massive organisation you are sometimes blinded by the internal culture and lose track of the macro external picture within the industry.

Pros

Schlumberger is clearly a technological leader in its industry, and as a result the company has a strong brand image (which is recognized across industries). Furthermore due to the fact that Schlumberger operates in over 80 different countries there are plenty of opportunities for an international career.

Cons

It can be very difficult to promote quickly within the organization. While Schlumberger claim to have a culture of meritocracy, this is simply not the case and most promotions rely on internal politics. This is further complicated by the large amount of unqualified middle management, which tend to chase off talent.
