Stay Away from the E&P Accounting Group!

Pros

Good Medical Benefits and talented CEO

Cons

Bonus structure is now a joke. Compensation is lower than other oil and gas companies. The E&P Accounting group has really high turnover, under-qualified and unprofessional supervisors, and poor management. One supervisor in particular leaves the office often to "work out" or meet friends while relying heavily on the staff to do her work. They once hired and then fired over 5 supervisors in less than a 2 year period. Stay away from this group! Other departments and people are great.

Could be worse

Pros

Family friendly work environment, not a lot of pressure to achieve meaningless goals. Focus is on risk management and finding good places to drill. Everyone is pretty much 9-5 and no work on the weekends is nice.

Cons

Lack of accountability. There are a ton of people here who should have been fired long ago. No one wants to change and therefore no real significant change or progress can take place. There is pretty much no pride in the work here.

Pros

good, competent regional technical staff; excellent benefits; good pay; some offices offer a flexible work schedule; decent vacation; pension plan

Cons

incompetent senior management; micro-management is prevalent throughout the organization (getting worse); an astonishingly bureaucratic organization for a company of its size; long term incentive plan is nebulous; no real training/development opportunities for junior technical staff (though this is advertised)
