Pros

The mission matters. You’re not just doing lab work—you’re helping bring service members home. That carries real weight, and SNA doesn’t lose sight of that. Leadership generally trusts professionals to do their jobs. If you’re competent and reliable, you’re given space rather than micromanaged. SNA does a good job staffing DPAA with people who actually know the work. You’re surrounded by capable scientists, analysts, and support staff who care about quality. Communication from management is straightforward and respectful. Issues are usually handled like adult conversations, not drama. The company understands the emotional and mental load of this mission better than most contractors I’ve worked for.

Cons

Workload can fluctuate based on case flow and government priorities, which can be stressful when staffing doesn’t flex as quickly. Like most government contracting roles, you sometimes feel far removed from the bigger company, especially being out of state, unless something administrative comes up.

Pros

SNA doesn’t just check boxes on credentials. Once you’re in the field, leadership expects you to think, assess, and make defensible decisions — and they back you when those decisions are grounded in science and policy. There’s a rare understanding that archaeological recovery doesn’t happen on spreadsheets. Weather, terrain, host-nation coordination, and human remains don’t care about schedules — and SNA plans accordingly. Lastly, the best compliment I can give is that most of the time, program support is invisible — because things work.

Cons

If you need constant direction or reassurance, this may feel uncomfortable. You’re expected to own your calls and defend them professionally. If you’re motivated by constant praise or visible recognition, this may feel underwhelming. The culture assumes competence rather than celebrating it loudly.

Pros

1. Meaningful mission and direct impact on clients and communities. 2. Smart, supportive teammates and strong cross-functional collaboration. 3. Leadership that listens, communicates clearly, and supports growth. 4. Competitive pay and benefits compared with typical Omaha underwriting ranges

Cons

I don't have any. If you are in our field of Forensic Anthropology, this mission and company are where you want to be.
