Pros

Management is so poor at their job, you will have to wear a lot of hats, forcing you to really grow your skills and fill in your gaps. You will have a lot of options after leaving.

Cons

Management tends to overestimate their engineering skills, often times trying to pin blame on engineers for poor decisions that they made. No long term strategy, some really bad leadership additions in the last year, and loss of some great talent and direction.

Pros

The company has an abundance of talented systems/software engineers, and the staff of business, finance and HR professionals make for a well-rounded organization. Having spent 35+ years working in the govt, I was a bit apprehensive about taking on another career challenge. Joining this company was a very good decision. Working with the SOLUTE team has been a great experience. Over the past year the CEO has made organizational adjustments and significant investments to support this growing company. I'm looking forward to year two, and beyond.

Cons

Like many defense contractors, the work can be both fluid and dynamic. The employees need to be flexible and willing to adapt to the changing customer environments. The work is decentralized (onsite HQ, offsite various client locales) so corporate communications is challenging.
