Definitely a great place to work with few shortcomings that can easily be overlooked.

Like I said it's a great place to work, my manager at the time was very supportive of his team and understood what our jobs were all about. Certain top level executives definitely held a lot more sway compared to others but it's the usual politics you'll encounter anywhere you go. Overall its just the people you worked with that made it an enjoyable stay for me.

Cons

It took a while for me to notice it and even took longer for me to accept it but when you get a chance to work here you'll may or may not notice that certain "elitist air" in the environment but maybe it was just me. But some of the people I've shared this thought with have agreed with me.

Pros

Advent makes the leading investment management and performance reporting software. If you work for them in any capacity and later chose to work in other areas of finance your resume will get noticed. I knew very little about finance and technology when I started at Advent in an entry level position, when I left 4 years later I was fully prepared to meet the needs of various private wealth mangers and other financial advisers. I could not think of a better choice to start my career, now even years later having worked at Advent always gets me a call back from hiring mangers and has allowed me to get some great jobs.

Cons

I was not able to advance as fast as I wanted at Advent and felt stuck in the technical support role for longer than I wanted, however temper this by the pros mentioned above as working in this role provided the foundation for great success after working at Advent.
