Pros
It can pay well if you work hard and move up. The union offers good benefits; good insurance, paid holidays etc. Some people in corporate are pretty good about listening to the insight of managers on store level.
Cons
Corporate seems pretty out of touch when it comes to motivating staff on a store level. If an entire district isn't right, it's blamed on the minimum wage employees. It creates an environment where most employees don't care about the quality of their work, and the ones that do are pushed to breaking point. Even when sales are way up, stores are berated if those ridiculous surveys aren't perfect. While it may vary from store to store, they almost expect you to be "on call," especially during holidays.
