Pros

Learned from the bottom up, looking at the company as my first job. Management was fair and y.knew i wouldn't be there forever, but did not treat me differentl

Cons

You have to be on your feet for long hours. People will take advantage of you, outside your job description to complete tasks others don't want to.

Pros

Great employees and customers. Its nice to build relationships with your loyal customers and employees. The service program used to be the best. You used to get compensated nicely for working holidays, weekends, and nights. Now the pay is low no matter how much experience you have.

Cons

No work/life balance. Too many hours and expectations for the low pay. Too many executive positions added and fewer hours in the stores to help customers. Customers are complaining that our service program is nonexistent and Fry's has taken it over. Prices are rising and your getting less for your money. Always out of stock on most basic items for long periods of time. Pulling more brand name items and substituting with store brands. The climate in the stores is very negative. Stores are micromanaged, so they are alike. Lines are the worst I have ever seen them. You cant take pride in being a Safeway employee anymore.

Pros

Great brand equity, terrific research and marketing abilities (pre-merger), professional attitude among corporate staff and a desire to get things done,

Cons

Tough atmosphere especially after the merger--too much uncertainty with so many having lost their jobs. Safeway people not appreciated by Albertson's people. Benefits are horrific.
