      Pros

      Safeway USED to be a great company to work for. We were strong, respected and most employees were proud to work for a company like them. I miss the old days.

      Cons

      They sold out to an equity firm out of greed and they merged Safeway with New Albertsons. Whereas the promise was to share equal management, it quickly became obvious that the Albertsons management team was taking over. The stores are "dumbing" down and customers are fleeing. A once vibrant company in a very competitive market is no more. Very sad.

      Pros

      Flexible scheduling, you learn a lot, hands on work, SOME nice employees & customers, weekly pay, union, job security.

      Cons

      If you're new they will keep you right under 20 hours just so you don't get benefits, managers are angry and fed up with their jobs and take it out on new employees.

      When things are going at a comfortable pace, it's pretty cool

      Cons

      Things are never at a comfortable pace If you're new, you'll get the worst shifts and be told how bad you are customers show up at the most inappropriate times the wage is 8.39. You are expected to break 10 world records a day and still 8.39. Your coworkers will make you do their jobs they're giving me just under the amount of hours to have a lunch break but I'm going to work overtime anyways as is the nature of closing after a bunch of lazy a's Obviously taking advantage of me, but I'm too passive-aggressive to say anything and I just complain online Morale is incredibly low, which is bad for customer interactions I have clinical anxiety, no one cares I actually have depression now form this place Constant fear of being fired. (sweet relief) Also I have censor myself because this website won't let me cuss
